Established in 1993, Koshi Tappu Wildlife Camp, the very first safari tented camp within Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve, is one of the exclusive wildlife camps that offers a unique experience to view over 400 species of birds and wildlife species. Staffed with knowledgeable local naturalists, the camp with its comfortable settings within its own private jungle is another definition for tranquility. It is a place to be for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts.
Accommodation We Offer
Koshi Tappu Wildlife Camp consists of 12 large deluxe safari tents with easy twin beds and simple modern toilet. Hot and cold shower is available at all times. The restaurant with fully stocked bar is located centrally on the thatched 'Golghar' serving both Nepali and western cuisines.
What to Carry
- Camera and binoculars to enjoy to the maximum animal life and abundant bird life
- Light colored and casual clothing that will blend with nature
- Light jacket and sweater during winter months (November-March)
- Walking shoes to view life by foot
- Insect repellent and a personal first aid kit
How to Get There
- There are regular flights from Kathmandu to Biratnagr by twin otter or avero aircraft every day. From Biratnagar, a comfortable 1.5 hour drive to the camp.
- An exciting 8-10 days' rafting trip on Sunkoshi River reaches directly at Koshi Rappu Wildlife Camp.
- The scenic drive of 9-10 hours through Nepali countryside by road.
Best Time
The best time to visit this wonderful wildlife reserve is between October and March. In these months many migratory and local birds can be sighted. They are to be seen at the barrage and many river channels. Himalayan peaks, including Makalu I (8,463m), are a dazzling sight.
